Jamie Archer Through to Next Round of X Factor
Just wanted to write a quick update to let readers know that Jamie has made it through the first round after the public voted to keep him in, so we'll see him again next week!
Jamie Archer – X Factor Live Show 1
Jamie Archer strolled onstage for his first X Factor live appearance, to perform T-Rex's "Get it On" with a "live" rock band behind him - something you don't often see on the X Factor. Not sure if the band were really playing their instruments though or if they were just being used as props. Probably the latter.
Like most of the contestants who had appeared before him (Jamie was seventh on the bill), Jamie got off to a little bit of a shaky start as his voice took a couple of lines to really settle, but that's understandable and forgivable in the circumstances (this is after all a live show in front of a theatre audience of thousands and a television audience of millions).
By the second verse of the song however, Jamie Afro was in a class of his own. He was the first contestant on the show to really take their song by the scruff of the neck and make it their own. It was a truly formidable performance and one that is virtually guaranteed to get him through to the next round.
The X Factor judges agreed that Jamie gave a great performance, although Louis Walsh said he would like to see more versatility from him on future shows.
Jamie Archer is one of the hot favorites to win the X Factor and tonight's performance showed why.

Will Jamie Archer Win the X Factor?
Will Jamie Archer win the X Factor? That is the question many people are asking.
At 34, Jamie Archer is the oldest of the finalists in this year's X Factor. As something of a rocker with a distinctive afro hairstyle (leading to his nickname of Jamie Afro), he is a little bit different to your typical X Factor contestant.
Hailing from South London, Jamie says he has always loved music. When he was just 10 years old, he saw the legendary Jimi Hendrix live, who obviously made a lasting impression on him.

Before getting to the X Factor finals, he regularly performed in pubs and clubs, so is used to performing in front of an audience (although not the audience of millions who will now be watching him!)
As well as being a singer, Jamie is also a talented multi-instrumentalist (guitar is his main instrument) and writes his own material too. When he first introduced himself to the X Factor judges, he described himself as a musician and not a businessman.
That first audition, where he sang Kings of Leon's "Sex on Fire" was certainly one to remember. He even had Simon Cowell singing along. In his comments to Jamie following the audition, Cowell described him as "fearless".
Reportedly something of a ladies' man, Jamie says he can't remember exactly how many partners he's had. No doubt there will be many more lined up as fame beckons!
One of the most distinctive things about Jamie's appearance is his afro, which took ten years to grow until it was cut and "tidied up" by X-Factor stylists recently.
Jamie has a great voice and bucketloads of charisma. He certainly has the talent to go all the way.
So will Jamie Archer win the X Factor? It's very possible!
